Doctor Who Glass - Drinking Water in Style with a Dalek, a Cyberman, and Tom Baker as The Doctor.

A few days ago I was (as usual) wandering and busing around the city in search of unique and affordable collectables. A glass may not exactly be unique, but it was sure affordable, there was only one of them, and it had COOL THINGS on it. First of all, it has a Cyberman and a Dalek on it. Second of all, it has Tom Baker as The Fourth Doctor on the front under the Doctor Who logo. Third... it's a glass. And I can drink from it.

The thing is, though, I have only used it to drink water once. I am too paranoid about the color coming off of the glass, so it sits on my shelf with my Doctor Who DVDs and will probably never get used again. Oh, the woes of a collector. (And yet I take my action figures out of the packaging to act out episodes and do other "cool things". Go figure.)

Sontaran Doctor Who Posters are Cool.

I happen to have a very interesting poster up in my room that I got in the November 1989 Tenth Anniversary issue of Doctor Who Magazine. It features the wonderful Fourth Doctor and three Sontarans:

The interesting thing about this poster is that the Sontarans shown are actually from "The Time Warrior" and battled the Third Doctor. The Fourth Doctor met different looking Sontarans in the serial "The Sontaran Experiment", where they looked less scary, and had goofy expressions on their faces.

The Third Doctor meets these Sontarans:

Which are obviously the ones shown on the poster. (But what about that lighter colored one?) The lighter colored Sontaran was also in "The Time Warrior". (I also thought is was cool that they had hairy eyelids.)

As I mentioned before, the Sontarans that meet the Fourth Doctor look kind of derpy in comparison:

Is it sad that I actually make a fuss over things like this? Perhaps - but these are important things, people! What would my life be without it?

A sad, meaningless void, that's what.

Doctor Who and the Deadly Assassin

The first Doctor Who book I ever read was written by Terrance Dicks and published in 1977 - Doctor Who and the Deadly Assassin! As usual, I picked this up at an antique bookstore. It only takes a couple hours to read (although I have been told I am a speedy reader - I usually read a novel a day) and gives great insight into the workings of the Time Lord society, and the history of Rassilon.

Fun fact: Not all Gallifreyans are Time Lords.

Even more fun fact: The book is based off of the four episodes that made up the "The Deadly Assassin" serial, which can be watched on youtube! Thanks, technology and copyright infringements!
